CLiP-LV Low Voltage Current Limiting Protector
The G&W Electric CLiP-LV is a 750 V low-voltage current limiting protector for switchboard protection and distributed generation interconnection, sold and supported in Texas and Oklahoma by Ryan Sales.
- 750V class
- up to 4000A continuous
- up to 200kA interrupting
- trip levels to 30kA instantaneous
- 1/4-1/2 cycle clearing
Overview
The CLiP-LV protects low-voltage systems up to 750V from rising fault currents driven by capacity expansion and distributed generation. A continuous copper busbar carries up to 4000A in normal operation while a parallel current limiting fuse clears faults up to 200kA within a quarter to half cycle. Field-adjustable trip levels, remote enable/disable and outdoor-capable construction make it a flexible retrofit for switchboards and bus systems.

How does the CLiP-LV clear faults?
The CLiP-LV carries up to 4000 A in normal operation through a continuous copper busbar, while a parallel current limiting fuse clears faults up to 200 kA within a quarter to half cycle. Faults are electronically sensed, with field-adjustable trip levels up to 30 kA instantaneous and remote enable/disable.
What is the difference between the CLiP-LV and the CLiP?
The CLiP-LV is for low-voltage systems up to 750 V, while the CLiP covers 2.8 to 38 kV. The CLiP-LV carries up to 4000 A continuous and interrupts up to 200 kA, meeting UL 248-1 and IEC 60269; the CLiP carries up to 5000 A continuous and interrupts up to 120 kA.
