Power Assisted Fuses
The G&W Electric PAF Power Assisted Fuse is a 2.8–38kV commutating current limiting fuse for high fault current distribution systems and metal-enclosed fuse installations, sold and supported in Texas and Oklahoma by Ryan Sales.
- 2.8-38kV
- 60-200kV BIL
- 600A max continuous
- 40/60kA sym interrupting
Overview
Power Assisted Fuses carry continuous current on a copper bus bar path that opens during overcurrent events, commutating fault current into a parallel current limiting fuse. This gives systems up to 38kV an economical current-limiting alternative to expulsion, vacuum and SF6 fuses in applications that exceed conventional fuse ratings. Indoor, outdoor and metal-enclosed mounting options are available.

Frequently asked questions
Who sells the G&W Electric Power Assisted Fuses in Texas?
Ryan Sales, a manufacturers' representative based in Magnolia, Texas, sells the G&W Electric Power Assisted Fuses and has represented G&W Electric in Texas since 1984. Its regional reps support customers across Texas and Oklahoma. Call (281) 363-1106 or request a quote on this page.
How does the G&W Electric Power Assisted Fuse (PAF) carry up to 600 A continuously?
The PAF carries continuous current on a copper bus bar path that opens during an overcurrent event, commutating the fault current into a parallel current limiting fuse. This lets it carry up to 600 A continuously while providing 40 kA or 60 kA symmetrical interrupting.
What voltage ratings and mounting options does the G&W Electric PAF offer?
The PAF covers 2.8 to 38 kV with 60 to 200 kV BIL, and it is available for indoor, outdoor and metal-enclosed mounting. It serves as a current-limiting alternative to expulsion, vacuum and SF6 fuses in high fault current applications that exceed conventional fuse ratings.
