Trident-SR Automation Switchgear
The G&W Electric Trident-SR is a 15–38 kV magnetically actuated solid dielectric switchgear for distribution automation and automatic source transfer, sold and supported in Texas and Oklahoma by Ryan Sales.
- 15/25/35kV classes
- 630A continuous
- 12.5kA fault interrupting
- BIL 110/125/150kV
- 10000 mechanical operations
Overview
The Trident-SR uses magnetic actuators for extremely fast operation - about 3.5 cycles for load and fault interrupting - enabling automatic source transfer in under 10 cycles. It was designed specifically for distribution automation and Smart Grid schemes, with SEL, ABB and GE relay support, fully encapsulated 1% voltage sensing and the SafeVu visible break. The solid dielectric design is submersible up to 20 feet for 20 days for flood-prone and harsh environments.

Frequently asked questions
Who sells the G&W Electric Trident-SR Automation Switchgear in Texas?
Ryan Sales, a manufacturers' representative based in Magnolia, Texas, sells the G&W Electric Trident-SR Automation Switchgear and has represented G&W Electric in Texas since 1984. Its regional reps support customers across Texas and Oklahoma. Call (281) 363-1106 or request a quote on this page.
How fast does the Trident-SR operate?
The Trident-SR operates in about 3.5 cycles for load and fault interrupting, using magnetic actuators. That speed lets it complete automatic source transfer in under 10 cycles. It was designed specifically for distribution automation and Smart Grid schemes, with SEL, ABB and GE relay support and fully encapsulated 1% voltage sensing.
How does the Trident-SR differ from the Trident-ST?
The Trident-SR uses magnetic actuators for about 3.5-cycle operation and is rated for 10,000 mechanical operations, versus 2,000 for the Trident-ST. Both come in 15, 25 and 35 kV classes with 630 A continuous and 12.5 kA fault interrupting. The Trident-ST instead emphasizes independent single-phase tripping and reset.
