Trident-ST Solid Dielectric Switchgear

The G&W Electric Trident-ST is a 15–38 kV three-phase solid dielectric switch with single-phase switched ways for underground distribution switching and distribution automation, sold and supported in Texas and Oklahoma by Ryan Sales.

  • 15/25/35kV classes
  • up to 38kV max
  • 630A continuous
  • 12.5kA sym fault interrupting
  • BIL 110/125/150kV
Overview

The Trident-ST is a three-phase load break or fault interrupting switch in which each phase can be opened, tripped and reset independently, keeping unaffected phases energized during single-phase faults. Solid dielectric insulation eliminates SF6 gas and oil, and the switch operates submerged in up to 20 feet of water for 20 days. Self-powered Type VI overcurrent controls, SEL/ABB/GE relay compatibility and padmount, pedestal, wall-mount or IP68 submersible configurations make it automation-ready for underground circuit protection.

Frequently asked questions
Who sells the G&W Electric Trident-ST Solid Dielectric Switchgear in Texas?

Ryan Sales, a manufacturers' representative based in Magnolia, Texas, sells the G&W Electric Trident-ST Solid Dielectric Switchgear and has represented G&W Electric in Texas since 1984. Its regional reps support customers across Texas and Oklahoma. Call (281) 363-1106 or request a quote on this page.

What voltage classes and ratings does the Trident-ST come in?

The Trident-ST comes in 15 kV, 25 kV and 35 kV classes, with a maximum rating of 38 kV. It carries 630 A continuous current and 12.5 kA symmetrical fault interrupting, with BIL ratings of 110, 125 and 150 kV. It is rated for 2,000 mechanical operations and built to IEEE standards.

How does the Trident-ST handle single-phase faults?

The Trident-ST lets each phase open, trip and reset independently, so unaffected phases stay energized during a single-phase fault. This suits single-phase sectionalizing on underground distribution. Self-powered Type VI overcurrent controls and compatibility with SEL, ABB and GE relays support distribution automation.
